The sound of silence

Among my travels I visited this beautiful Buddhist temple nestled close to the mountains on the North Shore of Oahu, away from all the busyness. It was so beautiful and serene - you could hear the sound of silence. There were many places on the grounds, where one could just sit amidst lush green scenery and just be. I enjoy the silence, it clears my mind. While I am not one to meditate often (I just can't focus long enough), just being there in the silence was enough, the surrounding peace seemed to seep right into your body and soul.

I really needed this after the pandemic that seems endless. It constrained us and mentally drained us all; so, it's time for some normality again. The mask is a compromise I am okay with once I can move around freely. Now returns the time to travel and explore, the time to not think too much, and, to just "go with the flow" wherever it takes you. For me, the ocean revives me, seeing it, being in it....there is just something about salt water I guess. And, Hawaii is one of my favorite places.

Do you take time for yourself? Time to just be, in the moment. In the silence, peace surrounds you and you feel closely connected to the Divine. In this busy, chaotic world, don't forget to take time for you, even a little bit at a time, every day. It will nourish and revitalize you and give you the strength to face the next day and all the days to come.
