Living during a pandemic

Writer's picture: Ramona MarajRamona Maraj

Who ever thought we would live through such a crazy situation! Stuck inside, where days have rolled into weeks, four weeks in my case, living a new normal. I miss some, not all of the old routine, like going to work, going to church, going to the movies and walking through the malls.

I simplified my life many years ago and do not go out much. I thought I loved staying at home but these past week have shown me that I am more social than I thought I was. The fact that I don't like working from home is now confirmed. The online options of video calls, etc. are just not good enough, we all need human, face to face interaction.

We have no control over what is happening, we can only control how we react and survive through it. That is where our power is, how we can keep ourselves from going insane during the silence.

Today, I couldn't resist the sunshine, I broke down and went for a walk. It was cold and still windy, but I did not complain about the sun in my eyes or the cold wind, I am just grateful for the simple pleasure of being alive and being outside!
