Listen to your heart

I just finished re-reading The Alchemist again. My original copy is still in storage in Ontario so I bought another one when I came to Saskatchewan. There are more things underlined yet again. I enjoy reading on Kindle but there are some books that you just need to have a paper copy in your hand. I find all of Paulo Coelho's books are like that; I just love the way he writes, amazing storytelling whose nuggets of wisdom jump jump right out at you.

This time around, there was a line that I kept revisiting as it resonates loudly for me. "Usually the threat of death makes people a lot more aware of their lives." That is exactly how it was for me. I had become so wrapped up in the busyness of life that I was existing, not truly living. It is only after hearing those words of a time limit on my alive days and being afraid to go to sleep from being unsure if I would wake up that I truly awakened. I shrugged off complacency and transformed my existence to show my gratitude to God for a second chance at life. It really is true that God has strange ways of showing us our treasure!

As I continue onwards on this journey I am grateful for my children, my mother, and all the people who surround me with their love. How can I show my love to them? By taking care of myself so I be there for them for as long as God allows me to be here.

I continue to seek knowledge and the treasures of creation and I hope that my story can help someone along their journey. Listen to your heart. We are, after all, just walking each other home.
