Over the past few months I have been traveling to get my sons set up for another step on their journey. One is now east and the other, west. And, since I live in the middle of the prairies, it takes many long flights with multiple connections.
As you drive along the I40 highway from Nashville, there is a cross on a hill in Cookeville, Tennessee. It was a wet, rainy Sunday but I wanted to get closer to take a picture. As we drove along the winding road, my prayer for an answer I sought, kept replaying in my mind. I asked for a sign of assurance.
We couldn't drive up the path so we stopped at the bottom of the hill where we could see it clearly. There stood the cross, on a hill, surrounded by the dark rain clouds. As I tried to adjust my camera, I saw the bright shape of an angel hovering over the cross on the screen. In my disbelief, I quickly moved the camera away. How could an answer come so quickly? It couldn't be. Maybe I was seeing what I wanted to see. I then looked at the screen again and took the photo. When I looked at the photo, I could see the shape of an angel hovering over the cross. I was filled with a mix of hope, fear and joy. Everyone else could see it in the photo so it meant I wasn't really crazy!
It is amazing how our Father in heaven knows exactly what we need and when we need it most. Sometimes it seems that he makes us wait and wait and sometimes he surprises us. It is in the times that we least expect it that blessings enter in.
"Oh, I believe there are Angels Among Us, Sent down to us from somewhere up above. They come to you and me in our darkest hours To show us how to live To teach us how to give To guide us with a light of love."
